Disney on a Budget

If anyone has any ideas for a family of six on how do to disney on a budget we would love to hear it. We are planning on coming down May 10th through the 17th of 2008 and we have four children ages 2-14 and any suggestions would be great on places to stay, eat and we are going to disney 4 days and universal 2 days.
thanks,

Hi bmshuey. Where are you looking to save money? Is it around accommodation, dining, or something else?

Red face Re: Disney on a Budget

Mostly we are looking to save money on accomadations. If you have any suggestions it is greatly appreciated. Our grandson still sleeps in a crib, but alot of places only give quotes for five people they don't consider the crib. Also, if you have any great places to eat with kids suggest away!!
thanks,

Re: Disney on a Budget

Hi bmshuey. For the size of your party, I'd definitely suggest a villa. There's some great locations that aren't too far from Disney, but a bit more of a drive to Universal (although not that far).

Have a look at Orlando Villas and Florida Vacation homes direct from the owner

The buffet's are always great with kids as they can get their own food. One of the more popular ones is Golden Corral and Sizzler. I don't really eat at those for dinner, but find they are great for breakfast. You can really fill up, and just have a snack at lunch time.

Re: Disney on a Budget

Thanks for the website, but we would like to possibly get a suite at a hotel or two side by side rooms because we would like to have a pool and a game room for the kids. Also, I attend school on-line and I have to check in for attendance that week and i need internet access. You read so many reviews on the hotels and we are just not sure where we should stay for the price. Thanks for heads up for the places for breakfast. We always usually feed the kids a big breakfast and then a snack later and have a early dinner in the park during the offtime and it usually works great, but finding a good place for breakfast is sometimes hard.

Re: Disney on a Budget

No probs. BTW, the last villa I rented had a games room, private pool (albeit not as big as the ones at a hotel) and internet access.

I've just booked a 3 bedroom townhouse at Regal Palms Resort at Highlands. I liked it because of the water park. I will have 3 children ages 3,4,and 5. It might be what you are looking for. You have the use of the resorts facilities for a small fee. Hope this helps.

Re: Disney on a Budget

How far is this Regal Palms Resort from Disney? Sometimes the pools seem so far away from where you stay and that is the problem. I haven't booked yet and we are to go on May 9th - 18th and I have to find someplace, I'm just not sure of what.

Re: Disney on a Budget

Regal Palms Resort is just off Highway 27 approximately 10 miles from Disney. a lot of the vacation rental homes are in this location.

If you visit maps.live.com and do a search for "2700 Sand Mine Rd, Davenport, FL 33897-3406" it'll show you an aerial shot of the area.

Re: Disney on a Budget

My villa is one of the closest to the pool at 2min away that 's what I've been told. I won't know for sure until I get there. I liked it because it had a lazy river, water slide and a childrens playground.Just what I needed with 3 little ones.
