Dixie Stampede Closes Down

Just read this over at the Orlando Sentinel Site.

From reading the article, the owners say that trading is good but they've sold the land off. So the land must have been worth more than the actual business I guess.

Feel real sorry for the 200 or so staff they're letting go/relocating to new posts.

Re: Dixie Stampede Closes Down

This is a sad day for Florida. This show was FAR better than the Arabian nights show which is touted as the greatest show in Orlando!!! What rubbish!!! My wife and I walked out of this show on our honeymoon as they are cruel to the animals a little. They seem to be more concearned about looking good and showing off than the welfare of the animals.

Re: Dixie Stampede Closes Down

Just as an update, it turns out that the nearby Premium Outlet mall is the new owner of the former Dixie Stampede-occupied land. They purchased it for "over $23 million" and will be expanding their mall onto the newly acquired property.
