NASA Shuttle Launch Viewings in Florida

I was watching NASA TV (I'm a bit of a nerd) and they mentioned public launch viewings.

If you go to the NASA site:

NASA - News - Highlights

They have information about launches there (link on the right hand side), and there are viewings and tours available in Florida.

They can be quite expensive (up to around $100) but they sound really exciting. I'd love to see one if theres anything happening around the dates of my trip!

Re: NASA Shuttle Launch Viewings in Florida

Oh, yes, I'd love to see a shuttle go off live and in person.

The prices aren't so unreasonable I guess if you consider this is definately one of those "once in a life time events" in our day and time.

I guess not long in to the future though this may not be that big of a deal and maybe the prices will go down.

I still enjoy going to our international airports here in USA and parking at the viewing area and just watching the planes land and take off.

I've enjoyed doing this since I was a a kid. My dad used to take us along just to give us something fun to do while we ate some lunch and chatted.

Re: NASA Shuttle Launch Viewings in Florida

You dont need to pay to veiw the launch. You can see it from Cocoa beach for free. I have tried to see a launch now four times and as yet have been dissapointed for various reasons but the worste one was when i had paid to get "the best spot" from inside The space centre grounds. I could not see the rocket on its pad and it got cancelled & seconds befoe launch time!!!!!!! How annoying!!!! Still i go over there on 12 feb 08 and there is a Shuttle launch on the 14th so maybe i will get lucky this time. Thing is i dont know where "the best spot" is yet so if you can help please do
