Buying Electronics in Orlando

I've always been struck by the lower cost of electronics in the US, and I'm considering saving my purchase of stuff like Digital Camcorders, etc, until I'm over there - I have plenty of power converters lying around so I could still use the things at home.

So, are there any good electronics / computer / photography shops in Orlando, or is it just general stores like Best Buy?

Any suggestions from residents much appreciated!

Re: Buying Electronics in Orlando

Maybe you could visit one of the flea markets while you are over here. Then you could haggle for an even better price. That's what I love about flea markets. The prices are always negotiable even on the new items.

I've heard there is a huge flea market in the Orlando area, but I'm not sure where it is located or the name of it. I'd like to stop in there just to look at it.

We have a Huge flea market north of us about 50 miles, but if you travel another 50 miles north, you can be in one of the biggest flea markets in the United States. At least it was termed as that when I last visited in the early 90's. It's called Traders World. In fact, I bought some drinking mugs there that had the Seven Dwarfs on them. I gave these glasses away to my mother in law. They were a bit old and made with heavy glass , not the kind that are so thin that hot water makes them crack.

Ooh, I'll give that a look! Where I live all the flea markets are either closed, or just sell total junk. I'd love to see one that sold decent normal goods, and proper quality electronics too.

The one thing that would concern me about that would be warranties though - if the product failed, would the manufacturer not just complain that you didn't buy it from an authorised retailer?

I go to flea markets every once in a while as well. Actually, we have one here and a friend of mine uses it as a place to get merchandise to sell on ebay. He makes a pretty good profit at it. I have been going to flea markets ever since I was a kid and could easily find myself visiting one in Orlando during my visit. You would be surprised at what you can find there and not anywhere else.

Re: Buying Electronics in Orlando

You guys are so lucky

With a few really crazy exceptions (like the dog ornament a friend bought from a pound store and sold for 20 quid on ebay) it is cheaper for me to pay postage and buy stuff from eBay than it is to use markets / second hand stores /retail outlets.

I'd better stop going on about that before I take this thread off topic!

I'll certainly give the flea markets a look, and I'll leave buying the camcorder till I'm over there - hopefully that will save me quite a bit of money to use enjoying the rest of the trip!
