Guide to Tipping When on Holiday
I found this guide to tips - its probably not perfect, and I expect a guidebook will have more details, as it seems that some amounts vary from place to place, but it is helping me figure out how much will be eaten on tips each day.
TravelSense - Tips on Tipping I feel kinda guilty now - last time I was on holiday I tipped the maid, the driver that helped with bags, etc, but I didn't tip the concierge for calling me a taxi. Ooops ![]() |

Re: Guide to Tipping When on Holiday
Tipping is always difficult for Brits. It's not something we're used to. I think we're generally uncomfortable with cash and talking about money anyhow.

Re: Guide to Tipping When on Holiday
I think you have a good point there.
I don't mind tipping in restraunts / when a pizza is delivered / when getting a taxi, but I was brought up to tip those things, and I usually just round up the bill. This doesn't attract any complaints, but isn't 'right' in other countries by the looks of it. The whole tip the maid / concierge / shopkeeper than gives you directions thing is new to me. If Americans live like that, and tip virtually everyone they encounter every day, I wonder how they find money to live! |

Re: Guide to Tipping When on Holiday
I had a real hard time tipping a lady who.......... get this
sat on the tour coach... told us a bit about the area for 5 - 10, then stuck on a video on the way to clearwater beach, sunned herself all day, at the end of the day asked us if we had a good time then reminded us as we got off the bus that they rely on tips as part of their wages... Sorry love if this is the case,,, GET A REAL JOB!!!!!!!! Rant over............................ and relax!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
