Lines at Soarin’

Epcot is similar to DHS in that it has only a has a few big draw attractions. This means lines at Soarin’, Test Track and Mission Space build up pretty quick during the day. This is further exaserbated by the fact that Test Track is currently closed for a major refurb, which will mean the lines at Soarin’ will build up even quicker during the day. Queueing for Soarin’ is really painful as it doesn’t even have any interesting pre-ride exhibits.

Also, the fastpass tickets for the ride regularly run out for this ride.

Any tips on avoiding the lines at Soarin’?

The usual good advice applies for Soarin’ as it would for visiting any of the Disney parks. As a general rule, plan your visit to Epcot on a day when there are no EMH (Extra Magic Hours), especially morning EMH. Many visitors don’t have park hop so EMH usually makes that park busier. If you are staying on-site at a Disney World resort hotel you could make use of the morning EMH, but I would personally prefer to visit on another day if possible.

Secondly, get to Epcot for opening and when you get to the park head straight for Soarin’ and get a fastpass. Don’t use the Fastpass though. If you got to Epcot early enough you should be able to join the line and ride Soarin’ in a reasonable time. You’ll then also have the Soarin’ fastpass for use later.

I would then visit a ride/attraction close by that generally has shorter lines/queues, something like Living with the Land. This nice relaxing ride will let you chill out while you wait for your Fastpass window to open. Once your Fastpass window is open, you can ride again and then enjoy the rest of the park.
