The Universal Imagineers certainly managed to ensure that the The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman ride is truly an amazing experience. Even thought the Spiderman ride is an original feature of Island of Adventure, it is still a stand-out attraction at all the Orlando theme parks.
Situated in Marvel Super Hero Island, you’ll often find Spidey near the entrance ready for a photo opp. While waiting for the ride, the plot is explained. The ride is set in Spidey’s home town of New York, where Spiderman’s enemies have captured an anti-gravity gun and stolen the Statue of Liberty. If the city is not surrendered to Doctor Octopus, the statue will be destroyed! When you get to the front of the line, you’ll be ushered into a car called the Scoop and take the role of a Daily Bugle junior reporter covering the story of the missing statue. Just make sure you’ve picked up your 3D specs, or you’ll be wondering what you’ve missed at the end!
Your first encounter with the web slinger sees a 3D Spiderman jump onto the front of your car asking you why you’re wandering around New York on your own. The action soon gets going when Spidey’s enemies such as The Rhino, Elektro, Doc Ock and The Green Goblin turn up. It’s Spiderman’s job to protect you through your journey and scupper Doctor Octopus’s evil plan whilst his most evil arch enemies try to finish you and Spiderman off. Although the 3D effects are brilliant, for example when Rhino crashes through the wall you duck away from the bricks flying towards you, this isn’t the whole story for the Spiderman ride. The sound effects are awesome, with huge explosions echoing around, when bombs go off you feel the tremors and the flames from the blast, when your car is falling you actually feel like the car is falling.
Keep your eye out for the cranky Jameson at the end. All in all… definitely not to be missed, although if you get chance, ride The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman a couple of times as there is so much to take in in one go.
Their is a height restriction of 40” on this ride. If you want to ride The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman, it is adviseable to visit the attraction as the park opens.
